NHI’s comprehensive Yoga Teacher Program will deepen your practice and, if desired, prepare you to function as a professional yoga instructor.
Including asanas (poses), yoga philosophy, Somatic and DaVinci movements (warm-up and progressive exercises), emphasis on intelligent sequencing, breathing exercises, meditation, Niyamas and Yamas (observances and non-observances), holding the ‘seat’ of a teacher, posture adjustments, yoga anatomy, Chakras and Nadis (yogic energy systems), principles of Ayurveda (yogic science of life), marketing and branding, business practices, and professional standards and ethics.
Four accessible and flexible modules spread out over several months:
Yoga Teacher: Hold the ‘seat’ of the teacher
Experience + embody the eight limbs of yoga described by Patanjali: niyamas/observances, yamas/restraints, asana/postures, pranayama/breath control, pratyahara/sense withdrawal, dharana/concentration, dhyana/meditation, samadhi/state of unity. Learn how to teach pranayama & yoga postures, intelligent sequencing, yoga anatomy and yoga marketing.

Yoga Therapy: Yoga for targeted areas of the body
Learn in-depth understanding of alignment of knees, hips, back, shoulders + neck. Understand the integration of the major muscle systems and experience how the ‘whole’ affects the ‘parts’. Learn how to address yoga students with health issues and injuries. Learn applied anatomy and special focus of spine, SI joint, lower back, neck, shoulders, hips and feet.

Ayurveda Therapy: Foundation Theory
In this class students learn the foundation philosophy of Ayurveda, constitution or body-mind types (doshas) and basic theory of nutrition for each. The art of meditation will be offered as a way to develop self-knowledge, which is the basis for healing and well being.

Explore Somatic Restorative Movements to improve: Postural alignment, range of motion & flexibility. Improve your bio-mechanics and fluidity of motion. Learn how to create an individualized “movement therapy program” for your clients or specific groups-seniors, athletes, handicapped, etc.

Two Certificates are earned: Registered Yoga Teacher and Yoga Instructor & Somatics Movement Therapist. Qualify for both State and National Certifications upon completion of the 200 hour program.
Yoga Teacher Training hours can be used towards the 1000 hour Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) Program and also Continuing Education
